The Indreeide Tunnel

We’re now entering the Indreeide Tunnel, one of the most important road improvements in this region for decades. The tunnel between Korsmyra and Indreeide was officially opened in March 2024, marking the beginning of a new era for Geiranger. This 5-kilometer tunnel gives the village a year-round road connection for the very first time, replacing a dangerous stretch with no fewer than thirteen avalanche zones. In the past, the road could be closed for weeks due to snow and rockslides, but today the journey is both safer and more predictable.
