Photo: Wigdis Wollan On this island you can find over a hundred protected cultural monuments. The trail includes several burial fields created from the Stone Age up to the Viking Age. Many of the tombs are visible due to heather burning and grazing, and are marked by stones of various formations: rings, oblongs and round stones. The most famous of the cultural monuments here is the Kulisteinen. It's believed that farming on Kuløy has taken place for as long as 4,000 years. This island was, after all, a judgment center in the Iron Age. The King of Kuløy, King Kul, is believed to have stayed here. We ask you to pay attention to grazing animals in the area, and please, don't burn a fire or throw litter here.
