Tyrhaug lighthouse

0

Tyrhaug is one of three lighthouses around Smøla. The lighthouse is 14.2 meters high and the light height is 17.8 meters abowe water. Tyrhaug was the first lighthouse at Nordmøre and was established in 1833. A single house was built containing a residential area, oil storage and a tower for the lantern. In January 1841, the lighthouse keeper's boat was destroyed in a storm. After the lighthouse keeper had pointed out to the ministry that he was dependent on a boat and that there was no water supply on the islet, he received compensation for the boat, and support was given for the construction of the boathouse and the water cisterns. Later, the houses were renovated and in 1924 a pier was built. Power was connected in 1963. The station was automated and vacated in 1967.
