Rangnes old school

The School Act of 1860 required the establishment of permanent schools throughout the country. Rangnes old school was built in the 1880s. At this time, 13 school buildings were built on Smøla. Most were built according to the same drawing as Rangnes old school. Today, the school is a museum run by Smøla Museum. It has fixtures, books and other teaching material from several of the old neighborhood schools. Rangnes old school is one of the few authentic schools preserved in Møre og Romsdal.
