Take in the sounds, the light, the smells and the little story we can tell you about the surroundings you are standing in the middle of. The people who shaped the cultural landscape lived their lives in a way that allows us to have it the way we have it now. Some of the human stories make an impression, and you have just given yourself the opportunity to know a little more about those who walked here before us. This rest area was completed only a few years ago, and those behind the project can enjoy extensive use of the area.

This artwork was created by two local artists – Ola and Kari Nordmann. Over the years, they have built an international career both as artists and as active voices in the country. When the work was completed a few years ago, it attracted attention, discussion, frustration and admiration. The story behind it is as exciting as it is surprising. Over time, this work has become a well-known landmark, and perhaps also a symbol of the life that is so typical of the place you are visiting now. It was the municipal government that ensured that the work finally received this location. The work has been the subject of both vandalism, unauthorized dressing and other incidents. In addition, the work can probably be seen as the background for thousands of selfie photos that are spread around the world. Both artists passed away before the unveiling at the end of the century.

The area around you now has a long story behind it. We don't have time to tell everything here, but we can serve the most important and perhaps some lesser-known parts. For example, they found things from the Viking Age where the large fountain could have stood today. It is also pleasant to learn the story of the gardener and the construction worker who turned out to be twins. For almost 30 years they had lived on separate sides of the city, before the construction of the park brought them together. The plants and trees here also have their own stories. Some of the plants would not normally have been able to withstand the climate or the soil, but they still grow here. The park is a widely used hiking area and concerts and other events are held regularly in the pavilion. The park was completed shortly after work on it was finished and the entire area was opened by the king or another famous person.

The building has an exciting history and it is no coincidence that it was built. The people who built it have both interesting, funny and surprising stories. Over the years, the building has been subjected to changes and events that have formed the basis for the surroundings and society that it is today.
